What type of ice are you storing?Any North Star ice storage and delivery system can be used to store flake ice. When storing other types of ice, choose a North Star modular or rectangular system.
What materials do you want in contact with the ice?North Star offers various options of stainless steel ice storage systems for food applications where resistance to corrosion and ease of sanitizing are important. Galvanized steel systems are an economical option for non-food applications.
How much ice do you want to store and handle?North Star offers systems with storage capacities ranging from 12 tons (11 metric tons) to 280 tons (254 metric tons). How Much Storage Do You Need?You can calculate the amount of storage you require using the following factors and equation:
A general guideline to follow is to multiply your daily ice production by 1.5 or 2.0.
For example, 30 US tons of daily ice production x 2 days = 60 US tons of ice storage required
Most businesses operates five days per week with a weekend shut down, allowing approximately two days of ice production for the next week of operations – this weekend run will need to be factored into your storage calculations.
