How Much Storage Do You Need?

You can calculate the amount of storage you require using the following factors and equation:

  • Ice Making Capacity
  • Number of days your business operates per week
  • Rate of use per day

A general guideline to follow is to multiply your daily ice production by 1.5 or 2.0.

For example, 30 US tons of daily ice production x 2 days = 60 US tons of ice storage required

Most businesses operates five days per week with a weekend shut down, allowing approximately two days of ice production for the next week of operations – this weekend run will need to be factored into your storage calculations.
